The Ultimate Open Class Cross Country Racer

Based on the benchmark-setting YZ450F motocrosser, the YZ450FX is designed to dominate cross country competition. Its lightweight, compact chassis, powerful four-stroke engine, exceptional rider ergonomics, and Yamaha's groundbreaking next-generation Power Tuner app all carry over directly from the class-leading YZ450F. Additional modifications tailored toward enhanced XC performance include a wide-ratio transmission, larger fuel capacity, 18-inch rear wheel, side stand, skid plate, revised ECU and suspension settings, along with a 10mm lower seat height for increased maneuverability in challenging off-road conditions.

Powerful 450cc Four-Stroke Engine

Featuring a reversed cylinder head layout, forged aluminum piston, 39 mm titanium valves, lightened crank assembly and dry sump lubrication, the YZ450FX's advanced DOHC four-stroke engine is light, compact and world renowned for its incredibly broad pulling power across the entire rev range. Additionally, ECU settings are tailored to suit the specific needs of cross country and enduro competition.

Industry-Leading Yamaha Power Tuner App

The free-of-charge Yamaha Power Tuner App brings the power of the GYTR® Power Tuner to an iOS® or Android® device, allowing owners to adjust air/fuel mixture and ignition timing, log race set-up information, and monitor a range of data such as maintenance and system diagnosis, engine run time, and more. Yamaha's next-generation Power Tuner App is more user-friendly with intuitive features including a "Simple Tuning" slide bar for engine mapping, Traction Control tuning, lap timer, and helpful engine and suspension tuning guides.

Traction Control System

Controlled through the Power Tuner App, the Traction Control System communicates wheel slip to the ECU, tuning the engine to maintain ideal rear wheel traction. Three levels can be selected: HIGH, LOW or OFF.

CHASSIS/SUSPENSION

Aluminum Bilateral Beam Frame

Striking the perfect balance of precise cornering performance and handling stability, the redesigned aluminum bilateral beam frame consists of more than 10 different aluminum components welded together with YZ450FX-specific XC-tuned engine mounts. The result is a better handling machine with lighter feel, improved bump absorption and increased traction, allowing the rider to enter corners with greater confidence and more line choices.

Class-Leading Suspension

The industry-leading, fully adjustable KYB® coil spring-type fork with speed-sensitive damping provides exceptional balance between handling and bump absorption, and now features a new hand operated compression clicker for toolless adjustments. The linkage type rear suspension uses a KYB® shock with specially-tuned damping characteristics to match the YZ450FX chassis.
